The Single Malt jacket is hand made on the Hebridian Island of Islay  by the Wildwood Wisdom Co - Operative.  It is both beautiful and sustainable; a jacket that wears in not out. The Single Malt jacket is a bespoke product, custom made to fit you in your choice of Islay Tweed. The jacket is cut for cycling, long at the back, dropped shoulders, rear pockets and leather trim cuffs. Even the buttons are unique, being made from fallen antler horn.

At Mosquito we take your measurements and help you select the tweed and liner fabric. On Islay they make the first version - the skin - they then send it back to Mosquito for a first fitting. We make any alterations necessary and the jacket goes back to be finished. Its then back to Mosquito for you to collect. In the future, should you change shape or have a mishap, the folk at Wildwood Wisdom will be able to alter or repair the garment. The point of this jacket is that it lives life with you.

Whilst we recommend that you are measured for your jacket at Mosquito. We do realise that there could be situations when this is not possible,  in these cases we can send you a tailors measurement chart for you to fill in, ideally with help from a tailor. Please email Gill at Mosquito to discuss your requirements and she will send out a Single Malt chart, with notes on the key measurements that must be given.

The Single Malt jacket and gilet have been developed by Jez Hastings on Islay.

"We decided to make these jackets out of necessity.
Wool is an all natural, waterproof, insulating material which does not cost the earth. It has been used for centuries and is fed on grass!
We could not find anything that was suitable for the place we lived in without it being detrimental to the planet. So we put our thinking hats on and designed a specific garment that would suit. 
There has been a fine tradition of weaving on Islay since the 13 century so we are just carrying on the tradition. The wool is woven on Islay, each item is designed and cut here and then fabricated on site too. The handmade antler buttons and trimming also come from Islay. The only thing which is not local is the fine RiRi zip that has to be made in Switzerland. We are proud that the whole garment is completely traceable and is fairly traded throughout the whole process"
