Refreshed and re-released for 2012, the stiff and razor sharp ride of the all new full carbon Squadra forms the heart of our new performance road machine. Using a modular monocoque carbon fibre frame and fork we’ve chosen to pass down technology and feedback learnt from wins on the Leggero. The oversized, tapered head tube spreads the forces travelling into the frame from the wheels for a smooth ride but improved prevision handling in sprint, corners and twisting descents.
The Smoothie road frame is agile and responsive. Excellent for sportive riding but also comfortable enough for daily commutes and charity rides. The semi-compact geometry allows for more standover clearance and fitting options, and Soma produce a good range of sizes to ensure good fit.
The San Marcos is a "sport touring" road frame designed by Grant Petersen of Rivendell. It is a fine ride on tarmac and smooth fire roads. While not designed for loaded touring, it can probably handle that type of duty even better than the Double Cross, which was Soma's go-to choice for touring before the Saga was designed.
A touring frame to take you to places far and wide. Built stoutly, because no one wants to experience a breakdown on the Alti Plano. Extra long chainstays help keep your panniers out of the way of your pedaling. Taller headtube for a comfortable all day riding position. For 2012 we have added an additional 54cm size for 700c wheels.
The Stanyan is the Soma lugged road sport frame. This is a great choice for the sportive rider and credit card tourer who appreciates a more traditional look to their bike. Like most Soma frames it is ready for mudguards or racks. (The Stanyan is named after a street in San Francisco, that used to have upwards of 7 bike shops in 4 block section) Lugged Tange Prestige heat-treated butted CrMo steel; butted CrMo rear end (On 52cm frames the seat tube/seatstay juncture is welded).
The "ES" means 'extra smooth.' It's not as quick handling as the Soma Smoothie or other dedicated race frames, but it is still quite fast and you'll actually gain extra stablity on speedy descents with the ES and be able to fit wider tyres. Ideal choice for multi-day charity rides, sportives and credit card touring. Eleven sizes to fit just about everybody.
A true mixte frame with the double top tube/stays. Obviously offers lots of standover height and style as well. You'll find the geometry is more sporty, than comfy. Though it can be built up to suit either demeanor. Drop bars? Sure. Moustache bars? Of course.
A great do-all frame. The Double Cross DC has disc mounts and removable canti mounts. Ready for cross, trail-riding,commuting and loaded touring. Soma make them in a wide range of sizes to fit you right.
